The Steam Deck is a powerful handheld gaming PC, but did you know it can also stream PlayStation Plus games? This lets you play both classic and modern PlayStation titles anywhere, instantly expanding your game library.
By installing the right tools, you can access PlayStation’s cloud gaming service directly from your Steam Deck. You don’t have to be a tech expert, it’s a simple setup that opens up a whole new world of games.

PlayStation Plus is home to a massive library of games, from retro favorites to modern blockbusters. Normally, it’s tied to PlayStation consoles, but with a few tweaks, you can access it on your Steam Deck.
This setup relies on Decky Loader and NonSteamLaunchers, two simple programs that allow non-Steam apps to run smoothly. Once installed, you’ll be able to stream PlayStation Plus titles directly from your device.

Decky Loader is the key to making PlayStation Plus work on your Steam Deck. This tool lets users install plugins and apps that aren’t normally supported on SteamOS.
To get started, enable Developer Mode in your Steam Deck settings. Then, visit the official Decky Loader GitHub page, download the program, and install it using the recommended settings.
This quick process gives your Steam Deck more flexibility, unlocking features that take your gaming experience beyond Steam’s built-in capabilities. Once it’s up and running, you’re ready to install the next essential app.

With Decky Loader installed, the next step is to enable the Testing Store. This hidden feature provides access to unofficial apps like NonSteamLaunchers, which is crucial for running PlayStation Plus.
To activate it, press the QAM button (under the right trackpad), open Decky Loader’s settings, and switch the Store Channel to Testing. Once enabled, you can browse and install custom launchers that expand your Steam Deck’s functionality.

Now that the Testing Store is active, you can install NonSteamLaunchers. This app connects your Steam Deck to multiple gaming platforms, including PlayStation Plus.
To install it, open Decky Loader, find NonSteamLaunchers in the store, and download it. Once installed, you’ll have access to multiple launchers like Epic Games, Amazon Luna, and, of course, PlayStation Plus.

Once NonSteamLaunchers is installed, setting up PlayStation Plus is simple. Open the app, turn on “Auto Scan Games,” and select PlayStation Plus from the available launchers.
It only takes a few minutes to install the necessary files and link your PlayStation Plus account. After completion, you’ll find a new PlayStation Plus tab in your Steam Library under Non-Steam games.

Once everything is set up, launching PlayStation Plus is as easy as opening a regular game on your Steam Deck. Simply navigate to your library, find PlayStation Plus under Non-Steam apps, and log into your Sony account.
With a stable internet connection, you’ll have access to hundreds of games, from PlayStation classics to modern hits. Since PlayStation Plus is a cloud-based service, game performance depends on your internet speed.

The Steam Deck’s built-in controls work well for most games, but some PlayStation titles require a touchpad, which the Deck doesn’t have. This can make certain games difficult to play without an external controller.
Using a PS5 or PS4 controller via Bluetooth solves this problem. These controllers maintain all the features required for PlayStation games, including the touchpad, adaptive triggers, and motion controls.

Pairing a PS4 or PS5 controller with your Steam Deck is quick and easy. First, go to the Steam Deck’s settings and turn on Bluetooth. Then, select “Show all devices” to make sure your controller appears.
Press and hold the PlayStation and Share buttons on your controller until the light starts blinking. Once it appears on the Steam Deck’s Bluetooth menu, select it to complete the pairing process.

Once PlayStation Plus is installed, the best way to access it is through Gaming Mode. This ensures that the interface runs smoothly, just like a native Steam game.
To enter Gaming Mode, press the Steam button and select “Return to Gaming Mode.” From there, open your library and launch PlayStation Plus under Non-Steam games.
If performance issues arise, try closing background apps to free up system resources. This will help ensure a smooth and stable gaming experience.

Not every PlayStation Plus game works equally well on the Steam Deck. Older titles, such as Wild Arms and The Legend of Dragoon, run smoothly due to their lower system requirements.
Newer PlayStation exclusives like Horizon Forbidden West or Returnal require fast internet speeds to minimize lag. Since these games rely on cloud streaming, a high-speed connection helps maintain stable frame rates and responsive controls.

Steam Deck system updates can sometimes break Decky Loader, making it disappear from Gaming Mode. If this happens, reinstalling Decky Loader is the fastest fix.
To do this, switch to Desktop Mode, visit the Decky Loader GitHub page, download the latest version, run the installer, and enter your password when prompted. After reinstalling, restart your Steam Deck in Gaming Mode, and your Decky Loader settings and plugins will be restored.

Since PlayStation Plus relies on cloud gaming, performance depends heavily on internet speed. A weak connection can cause input delay, lag, and reduced visual quality.
For the best results, use a wired connection through a Steam Deck dock or stay close to your Wi-Fi router. Reducing network congestion by limiting other devices on your network also helps.

The Steam Deck isn’t the only handheld gaming device on the market, but it stands out with its versatility.
Unlike the Nintendo Switch, which is locked into its own ecosystem, the Steam Deck allows players to install multiple game launchers, including PlayStation Plus, Xbox Game Pass, and Epic Games.
“Unlike cloud-based handhelds like the Logitech G Cloud or Razer Edge, the Steam Deck lets you play both local and cloud games, making it a more complete gaming device.

PlayStation Plus is just one of many services you can add to your Steam Deck. With NonSteamLaunchers, you can also install Xbox Game Pass, Amazon Luna, and the Epic Games Store.
This means you’re no longer limited to Steam’s library, you can access thousands of games from different platforms. By combining multiple services, your Steam Deck becomes a versatile gaming powerhouse, giving you more options than ever before.

If you already have a PlayStation Plus subscription, using it on the Steam Deck is a great way to take your PlayStation games on the go. It’s especially useful for playing exclusives without needing a PlayStation console.
Even if you don’t own a PlayStation, the service offers a massive library of games, making it a great addition to the Steam Deck’s capabilities. With the ability to install multiple launchers, your handheld device can become the ultimate all-in-one gaming system.
