Leela de Kretser
To compile the report, DNAinfo.com analyzed NYPD crime data against 2010 U.S. Census Bureau numbers. From there, DNAinfo.com ranked the city’s 69 neighborhoods from safest to least safe based on violent as well as nonviolent crime. The results were startling, showing an increase in city murder, rape, and robbery rates for the first time in decades. Visitors to the Crime & Safety Report can instantly compare crime rates by neighborhood and pour through detailed heat maps as they decide where to live and work.
